History

Approximately 25,000 units of the successor model of the Ford 3 ton lorry model 1939 were manufactured from 1942 to 1945. It differed from the American Ford 3 ton model 1940 by its one piece windshield. This model has been in 3 films including "Wolfhound" and "Return to the Hiding Place". "Heidi" as she is known, started out as a 1941 Ford 1GT8 truck employed as a water tank truck at Selfridge Air Force Base (fire fighting). Sold to a local township fire department, it was restored as a German V3000s Troop Truck in 1999. Used at innumerable WWII re-enactments and air shows (mostly Thunder Over Michigan).
